    <p>To understand the behavior of living things, technology to measure natural behavior is necessary. In particular, measurement of long-term behavior is indispensable to elucidate global behavior. In this paper, we develop a Visual Servo that compensates for the movement of small creatures. We have shown from experiments that the response performance of the developed measuring instrument has been dramatically improved.</p>

    <p>Japanese plantations occupy about 10 million hectares. Many trees have reached the cutting season. Focused on tree survey. Tree species classification is important for tree survey. This paper presents a method for classifying individual tree species on RGB images. CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) is a neural network model using convolution. CNN consists of convolutional layer and pooling layer. CNN can extract features in images.We used RGB image (cedar and cypress) taken in Japanese plantations. Also, We calculated the accuracy using 200 images (cedar and cypress).The accuracy reached 80% overall. It is possible to classify trees in the image.</p>

    <p>In this study, we evaluated a phototaxis of pillbugs(Armadillidium vulgare) by using a behavior measurement system consisting of an omnidirectional motion compensation mechanism and a cylin-drical LED display. At the first, to validate the phototaxis of pillbugs against unidirectional light stimulation, we conducted an experiment under continuous light stimulation from one direction for 30 minutes. Subsequently, to evaluate phototaxis performance under the condition that the direction of light stimulus changes alternately, we experimented under three iteration cycles conditions (160 s, 40 s, 10 s). Our results revealed that the pillbugs moved significantly in the direction of weak light intensity, and it suggested that the pillbugs has negative phototaxis. Moreover, we showed that the negative phototaxis became the strongest when the iteration cycle is 160 s, and the negative phototaxis tended to weaken as the iteration cycle became shorter. Also, when the iteration cycle is 10 s, an increase in residence time is found, suggesting that does not necessarily take the routine response behavior according to the situation.</p>

    <p>Flying snakes uses their entire body as a wing to glide through the air. During the glide, they use unique cross-sectional shape, which act as generating lift and undulates their entire body. Elucidation of the gliding principle of flying snake widens the range of application of snake robot. In this paper, we aim to understand the aerodynamic property of undulating shape of flying snake. We developed flat serpentine gliding model that is based on flying snake. In the experiment of gliding model we change angle of attack by changing position of the center of mass. Results of experiment is good agreement with simulation.</p>

    <p>In this study, we clarified the problem of ANTAM in experiment and evaluated after improvement both of software and hardware. As a result of improvement, it was confirmed that by increasing the control program to multithreading, the idle time increases in processing time as compared with single thread, and the control period is stabilized. Also, by using xvid as a video codec, long time recording over 5 hours became possible. Furthermore, by improving the data acquisition method from the mouse sensor, it became possible to acquire the movement amount at the sampling rate of 125 Hz, so the behavior trajectory was more precisely.</p>

    <p>For the field robotics it is necessary to possess the mobility on irregular grounds. One of methods for improvement mobility is that the robot actively constructs environmental conditions, for example, stacking structural objects enable to bridge uneven floors. In this study we focus on what the novel shape of the structural objects is for supporting to move. Particularly, we investigate the ratio of airspace in ragwork of objects which consist of three rigid cuboid bodies. We employed the genetic algorithm to find the optimal shape of structural objects with computer simulations.</p>

  • 橋梁長寿命化のためのワイヤ移動式汎用点検ロボットの開発

    橋梁を始めとしてインフラの維持管理・長寿命化は社会的に大きな課題の一つである.近年,橋梁点検の仕組みが確立され実行に移されているが,「技術者および財源の不足」が将来にわたり大きな課題であり,橋梁の長寿命化のためには効率的かつ経済的な点検・維持管理作業が不可欠である。
    本研究では,これらの課題を解決するために,橋梁点検作業を行うワイヤ移動式橋梁点検ロボットの開発研究を行った。本システムは,ワイヤでロボットを懸架し,ワイヤ長さを制御することで,ロボットが移動するプラットフォームであり,それにカメラや打音装置等を登載して実証試験を行った。その結果,将来的な実用化に向けて貴重な成果が得られた。

    コクヌストモドキの「動き」についてカラートラッカーを利用して計測し、遺伝的によく歩く系統と歩かない系統を選抜した。その結果、歩かない系統は歩く系統に比べて天敵であるコメグラサシガメに捕食されにくい反面、オスにおいては有意に多くのメスとの出会いがあり、交尾に成功しやすいことが分かった。さらに歩かない系統はオスでのみ有意に脚(前・中・後とも)が長くなり、系統間の違いには性選択が関与した可能性が高かった。歩かない系統は交尾前の性選択では不利であったが、交尾後の性選択(つまり精子間競争)では歩く系統に比べて有利であった。両系統は外部生殖器の形態にも差が認められたことから生殖隔離への関与も示唆された。
