Investigation into result of examination for bachelor's degree by National Institute for Academic Degrees and University Evaluation Reviewed

Students in an advanced course are required to pass a bachelor's-degree-examination by National Institute for Academic Degrees and University Evaluation to be conferred a bachelor's degree. One and two applications from the students of Tokuyama College of Technology were rejected by the examination in 2005 and 2006, respectively, despite a careful measure by many staffs. In order to investigate a current condition of the bachelor's-degree-examination, we sent questionnaires about number of rejected student and reason for a reject to all the national college of technology and obtained 48 responses. The result suggests that the most of colleges are confused by the rejection and seeking an effective action to improve the ratio of successful applicants.

Student internships provide excellent opportunities for students to gain experience and check their competence in their field. Eight years have passed since internship program for advanced engineering course student was established at Tokuyama College of Technology. As part of an effort for student to develop English proficiency and get cross-culture experience, international research practicum started as part of internship program at 2007. This report summarizes our efforts to establish international research practicum program and points out problems that remain to be solved.

High-energy electron flux at geosynchronous orbit significantly increases associated with high speed solar wind. The high-energy electron cause internal charging of satellites. It is important for satellite operations to forecast increase of the flux. Here, we report a forecast model using neural network with inputs of solar wind data.

It is important for spacecraft operations to make a forecast of high-energy electron flux. Because enhancement of high-energy electron causes deep electrical charging. It is known that variation of high-energy electron flux has a good correlation with solar wind speed and north-south component of interplanetary magnetic field. Here we report the result of study on forecast of high-energy electron flux using neural network with solar wind parameters as its inputs.
