© 2018, Springer-Verlag Italia S.r.l., part of Springer Nature. Very recently, Dung and Hang (Rev. R. Acad. Cienc. Exactas Fis. Nat. Ser. A Math. RACSAM, https://doi.org/10.1007/s13398-017-0425-4, 2017) gave a sufficient condition for some metrization problem on ν-generalized metric spaces. Strongly motivated by their result, we give sufficient and necessary conditions on the conclusion of their theorem. We also give sufficient and necessary conditions on the assumption of their theorem. Thus we could tell that we almost complete the metrization problem on ν-generalized metric spaces with respect to their method.

© 2018, The Author(s). In 1980, Hegedüs and Szilágyi proved some fixed point theorem in complete metric spaces. Introducing a new contractive condition, we generalize Hegedüs-Szilágyi’s fixed point theorem. We discuss the relationship between the new contractive condition and other contractive conditions. We also show that we cannot extend Hegedüs-Szilágyi’s fixed point theorem to Meir-Keeler type.

© 2018 Journal of Nonlinear and Variational Analysis Very recently, Kirk and Shahzad gave one open question on the Edelstein’s fixed point theorem in compact metric spaces proved in 1962. In this paper, we give a negative answer to this question. We extend the Edelstein’s theorem to semimetric spaces. We also study contractive conditions.

Fixed Point Theory Appl 19:2153–2163, 2017) gave a sufficient condition for Cauchyness on sequences in b-metric spaces. In this paper, we give a weaker sufficient condition. Also, to show the new sufficient condition is reasonably weak, we give an example. Using the new sufficient condition, we prove fixed point theorems for set-valued F-contractions in complete b-metric spaces. We also prove a fixed point theorem for single-valued F-contractions in complete b-metric spaces.
