Using Multiple Logistic Regression Analysis and Random Forest Models to Identify Factors in the Development of Low Back Pain during Postflexion in Children 査読有り

The incidence of low back pain (LBP) among children is increasing. Although LBP can be classified into LBP during anteflexion (LBPAF) and LBP during postflexion (LBPPF), their causes remain unknown. In previous research, we focused on analysis of the causes of pediatric LBPAF by stepwise regression using multiple logistic regression (MLR) model, but the model tended to overfit. Therefore, this study aimed to explore pediatric LBPPF and examined the causes using MLR model with elastic net (ENET) and conditional inference forest (CIF) model. We enrolled 319 children aged 4–15 years, approximately 12% of whom had LBPPF and all were older than 7 years of age. Pediatric LBPPF exhibited an earlier age of onset and a higher prevalence when compared with previous data of LBPAF. The MLR, ENET-MLR, and CIF models were developed using 15 variables obtained from questionnaires and physical examinations conducted. The areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) for the three models ranged from 0.68 to 0.72, with accuracy of 68–72%, sensitivity of 50–60%, and specificity of 71–77%. The ENET-MLR and CIF models showed higher accuracy and specificity than the MLR model. Furthermore, the test data accuracy rate did not decrease compared with the training data accuracy rate when using ENET-MLR, whereas the test data accuracy rate decreased more when using CIF. Notably, the ENET-MLR and MLR models identified the same three explanatory variables with low intercorrelation for discriminating between LBPPF and non-LBPPF, and their influence on LBPPF could be explained by the regression coefficients. These three variables were: a history of LBP, increased anterior thigh muscle flexibility, and increased spinal mobility and posterior thigh muscle flexibility. The results of the CIF model revealed that the same variables identified in the two MLR models were the most important variables when calculating the permutation variable importance measures based on the AUC. In conclusion, ENET-MLR is considered to be the best of the three models for discriminating pediatric LBPPF, because it has higher accuracy and specificity than MLR and less overfitting than CIF. Additionally, three factors can be used to discriminate pediatric LBPPF; namely, a history of LBP, increased anterior thigh muscle flexibility, and increased spinal mobility and posterior thigh muscle flexibility.

The negative-going movement-related cortical potentials are associated with the preparation and execution of the voluntary movements. Thus far, the readiness potential (RP) for simple movements involving either the upper or lower body segments has been studied. We investigated the ability to decode the sit-to-stand movement’s intention from the RP, which uses the upper and lower body segments. Therefore, we performed scalp electroencephalography in healthy volunteers. A gyro sensor was placed on the back to detect the movement of the upper body segment, and an electromyogram electrode was placed on the surface of the hamstrings and quadriceps to detect movement of the lower body segment. Our study revealed that a negative RP was evoked around 2 to 3 s before the onset of the upper body movement in the sit-to-stand movement in response to the start cue. The RP had a negative peak and a steeper negative slope from − 0.8 to − 0.001 s just before the onset of the upper body movement. Negative-going RPs reflect the intention of preparation/execution of the sit-to-stand movement. Therefore, we used the morphological component analysis method to extract the morphology of RPs from a single trial. This morphology of RPs is a promising aspect for limb neurotrophies or neurorehabilitation devices.

近年、腰痛（LBP）を持つ小児が増加している。LBPは疼痛誘発動作を元に前屈時LBP（LBPAF）と後屈時LBP（LBPPF）に分類され、我々はこれまでに小児LBPAFにおける予測モデル開発について報告した。本研究ではLBPPF予測モデル構築を目的とする。319名の小児（11.7 ± 2.9（平均±SD）歳）を対象に年齢やLBPの既往等の5項目と、LBPPFの有無の質問紙調査を行った。LBPPFは7歳以降、37名（12%）の小児で見られLBPAFに比べて多数だった。また149名（12.7 ± 1.6歳）が筋柔軟性、筋力、持久力測定を完了した。そのうち20名のLBPPF小児を対象にステップワイズ法を用いた多変量ロジスティック回帰を使って予測モデルを構築した。方法としてLBPPF10名と非LBPPF64名をランダムに選びモデルをトレーニングし、LBPPF10名、非LBPPF65名のデータによるテストを50回実施した。モデルの入力は質問紙項目及び測定した変数、出力はLBPPFの有無とした。最適モデルの選択にはF値を用い、また性能評価としてAccuracy、Sensitivity、Specificityを求めた。得られた最適モデルはLBP既往と大腿前面筋柔軟性を有意な説明変数（共にオッズ比の有意確率p < 0.05）に持ち、Accuracy 70.7%、Sensitivity 80％、Specificity 69.2%、F値0.42だった。LBPPFは7歳以降で見られたので10歳以降で見られたLBPAFと比べて若年で発症し、また有病率は高かった。得られたモデルのSensitivity、Specificityは50%を超えており、LBPPF予測が可能であると考えられる。説明変数はLBP既往、大腿前面筋柔軟性増加であった。LBP既往があると椎間板が変性している可能性があり、LBPPF疼痛発生部位である脊柱後方の負担を増大させる可能性がある。さらに大腿前面筋柔軟性が増加すると、猫背様不良姿勢が生じ、脊柱後方への負担がさらに生じると思われる。脊柱後方には痛み受容器が多くあり、また小児の脊柱後方は骨密度が不均一でありストレスが集中する部位を持つため、LBPPFが生じると考えられる。一方LBPAFでは猫背様姿勢に加えて身長増加やそれに伴う大腿後面筋の柔軟性低下、運動活動量増加など複数の因子が重なり発症すると考えられる。またLBPPFは少ない原因で発症するのでLBPAFに比べて早期に発症する可能性があると考えられる。

Multi-view image-based behavior classification of wet-dog shake in Kainate rat model 査読有り国際誌

The wet-dog shake behavior (WDS) is a short-duration behavior relevant to the study of various animal disease models, including acute seizures, morphine abstinence, and nicotine withdrawal. However, no animal behavior detection system has included WDS. In this work, we present a multi-view animal behavior detection system based on image classification and use it to detect rats’ WDS behavior. Our system uses a novel time-multi-view fusion scheme that does not rely on artificial features (feature engineering) and is flexible to adapt to other animals and behaviors. It can use one or more views for higher accuracy. We tested our framework to classify WDS behavior in rats and compared the results using different amounts of cameras. Our results show that the use of additional views increases the performance of WDS behavioral classification. With three cameras, we achieved a precision of 0.91 and a recall of 0.86. Our multi-view animal behavior detection system represents the first system capable of detecting WDS and has potential applications in various animal disease models.

Factors in development of low back pain during anteflexion in children identified by a multiple logistic regression model 査読有り

The number of children with low back pain (LBP) has increased. However, the underlying cause of LBP remains unclear. LBP is classified on the basis of whether anteflexion or postflexion induces pain. We focused on paediatric LBP induced by anteflexion (LBPAF) and studied its causes using a multiple logistic regression (MLR) model. Children aged 4–15 years participated in the experiments. About 6% of children had LBPAF and all were older than 10 years of age. Participants answered a questionnaire on sports and daily life and underwent physical assessments. Thirty-six MLR models were constructed using this data. Among them, the best model with the largest mean area under the curve (AUC) for the four test datasets had the explanatory variables of sport time, finger floor distance score, and Ely test score. These variables were present in 21–33 models in all thirty-six models. The MLR model was also able to detect approximately 70% of non-LBPAFs. These three selected variables suggest that an imbalance of the anterior and posterior thigh muscles may have caused paediatric LBPAF. This imbalance has not been reported in adults with LBPAF; hence, it is a characteristic of paediatric LBPAF.

Recently the number of children having the low back pain has increased. There are symptom classifications of low back pain, and those with anteflexion and postflexion are often used. So far the cause for the pain has not yet been clarified. In this study we have focus on the children low back pain with anteflexion (LBPAF), and studied on the pain of children aged 4 to 15 years using questionnaire and physical tests. In results 5% of the total children had LBPAF. The results of a multiple logistic regression predictive model show that height, gender, Finger Floor Distance (FFD) score, Ely test score, and sport time were the risk factors for LBPAF. The predictive model provided AUC higher than 0.8, and significantly higher negative predictive value than the other models. It also had the robustness for the number of datasets. Among the factors, FFD score, Ely test score had significantly larger odds ratios. The results suggest that LBPAF will be caused by the imbalance of muscle tone. Using the predictive model we can develop the system which instructs children to avoid low back pain.

Human temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE), which has convulsions, occurs after brain injury and the latent period. The detection of epileptic development using a prevention system may inhibit the occurrence of TLE symptoms. However, behavior modification that predicts the activity of epilepsy is poorly confirmed in both human and animal models. In this study, we used rats, which have simple neural circuits compared to humans, and demonstrated animal behavior modification at the latent period. We administrated a glutamate receptor agonist kainate and established an acute epilepsy model. Subsequently, we tested the kainate-treatment behavior modification, trajectory, and elevated plus maze test at the latent period. Consequently, self-grooming, locomotor activity, total locomotor distance, and the rate of locomotor distance with a running speed faster than 35 cm/s in the Kainate group were significantly higher than those in the Control group. In addition, the open-arm staying time, and the open-arm entry, which indicates the anxiety emotion modification in the Kainate group was also significantly higher than that of the Control group. These results suggest that over self-grooming, and high speed with locomotor activity may have occurred because of anxiety decrease.

FtsJ RNA 2′-O-methyltransferase 1 (FTSJ1) gene has been implicated in X-linked intellectual disability (XLID), but the molecular pathogenesis is unknown. We show that Ftsj1 is responsible for 2′-O-methylation of 11 species of cytosolic transfer RNAs (tRNAs) at the anticodon region, and these modifications are abolished in Ftsj1 knockout (KO) mice and XLID patient–derived cells. Loss of 2′-O-methylation in Ftsj1 KO mouse selectively reduced the steady-state level of tRNAPhe in the brain, resulting in a slow decoding at Phe codons. Ribosome profiling showed that translation efficiency is significantly reduced in a subset of genes that need to be efficiently translated to support synaptic organization and functions. Ftsj1 KO mice display immature synaptic morphology and aberrant synaptic plasticity, which are associated with anxiety-like and memory deficits. The data illuminate a fundamental role of tRNA modification in the brain through regulation of translation efficiency and provide mechanistic insights into FTSJ1-related XLID.

Animals have a diurnal rhythm with a cycle of approximately 1 day modulated by light information. This rhythm modulates memory performance. Relatedly, the hippocampal neural circuit has a dynamic property that can induce theta, beta, and gamma brain waves. However, the associated between the diurnal rhythm and these waves has not yet been elucidated. Carbachol, a cholinergic agent, can induce oscillations (e.g., beta waves) in rat hippocampal slices. In this study, we investigate the diurnal changes in the dynamic properties of hippocampal neuronal circuits using carbachol-induced beta oscillations (CIBOs). The hippocampal slices were made from rats adapted to 12-h-each light and dark conditions. The frequency of CIBO was significantly decreased more at midnight than at midday. There was no significant difference both under 12-h-each dark/dark condition and in the shuffled data of diurnal condition. The frequency at midday was significantly decreased by the application of SR95531 (gabazine) and bicuculline gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-A receptor antagonists. In paired-pulse inhibition (PPI) experiments, the PPI ratio at midnight was larger than that at midday. The PPI ratio reflects the degree of recurrent inhibition. The expression level of Glutamate decarboxylase 65, an enzyme that synthetizes GABA, was significantly higher at midnight than at midday. These results suggest that the CIBO frequency can be modulated by diurnal changes of hippocampal inhibitory neurons, and the modulation may lead to a diurnal change in memory performance.

We have developed a system in which humans and autonomous robots can collaborate with each other. In the system, robots often exhibit behaviors not intended by the humans. To avoid this situation, it is necessary to convey the humans' will to the robots. To do this, we have focused on electroencephalogram (EEG) error-related Potential (ErrP), using which we can detect the ErrP when a person observes an error by a robot. In our previous study, we recorded the ErrPs from subjects in a maze task when a robot moved in directions that the subjects did not intend. However, the mean epoch number of the ErrP per subject was small. It is necessary to collect a large number of data using a deep neural network. Generally, medical data and physiological data recorded from people are small. Few Shot Learning is necessary for a small number of data. Thus, Siamese neural networks have been proposed. In this study, we combined the Siamese deep neural network with a support vector machine to discriminate between EEG data with an error (ErrP) and that without an error. Consequently, we could obtain >70% of the maximum classification accuracy among subjects and 0.60 ± 0.22 of the area under curve.

Electroencephalogram (EEG) related to music preferences can be recorded when a participant has to evaluate preference score when listening to music excerpts. Whether EEG is related to decision-making regarding music preference remains unknown. In the present study, we separated listening-to-music and evaluating-preference (thinking) periods. Participants evaluated preferences using six-point Likert scales. F3γ power during the thinking period was significantly correlated with preference. The mean discrimination rate was around 70% using F3γ power. The results suggest that F3γ power may be related to deciding music preference.

脳卒中片麻痺手の機能回復は難しく、従来は発症後３ヶ月間の自然回復期以後の回復はないとされ（以後この現象をプラトーと言う）、麻痺側への訓練は中止されていた。このような状況の中、WHOが脳卒中片麻痺に対する鍼の効果を承認し、「標準経穴部位」（ツボ）を発表した。看護分野では、手浴は清潔ケアの一つとして古くから行われてきた。本研究では脳卒中片麻痺手の機能改善に有効な手浴方法の提案を目的とする。肘から指先まで12ヶ所のツボ押し洗いと拘縮改善に効果があるとされるストレッチングを手浴に取り入れた。対象者は脳卒中プラトー以後の慢性期片麻痺手患者３名で、各被験者に本手浴法を６日間実施し、２名に手の随意運動の改善がみられ手浴後の血圧も有意に低下した。以上の結果より、本提案手浴法による麻痺手改善の効果が示唆された。本手浴法は費用もかからず他セラピーと容易に併用できる事が利点であるが、症例が少ないことから更なる検証が必要である。

By forming multiple microholes and 64 microelectrodes at the center of a transparent SiN (silicon nitride) diaphragm, we developed a microdevice for chemical stimulation and multichannel measurement of extracellular potentials of cells and tissues. A rat hippocampal slice which was placed on the device was electrically stimulated using one of the 64 microelectrodes, and evoked potentials were measured at multiple areas of the slice. We chemically stimulated the slice by tetrodotoxin molecules released from the microholes, and succeeded in detecting disappearance of the potentials which was caused by inhibition of neural firing.

The study aimed to determine whether and how the activation of the acetylcholine receptor affects epileptiform discharges in the CA3 region in a rat hippocampus. Picrotoxin (100 μM), a GABAA receptor antagonist, was applied to a hippocampal slice to induce epileptiform discharges. The effects of the cholinergic agonist, carbachol, on the discharges were examined at the several concentrations (1–30 μM). Carbachol had different impacts on epileptiform discharges at the different concentrations. Relatively low concentrations of carbachol (<10 μM) increased the frequency but decreased the amplitude of the discharges. At 10 μM, carbachol induced the discharges, including bursts of theta frequency oscillations. At 30 μM, carbachol could induce bursts of beta frequency oscillations instead of epileptiform discharges. The amplitudes of the oscillations were smaller than those of the discharges. Carbachol suppressed the evoked population EPSPs (pEPSPs) in a dose-dependent manner. These effects were blocked by the muscarinic cholinergic receptor antagonist atropine sulfate. The high level of muscarinic receptor activation can replace epileptiform discharges with theta or beta oscillation. These results suggest that the dose-dependent alternation of the acetylcholine receptor activation may provide the three different stages the epileptiform discharges, the bursts of theta oscillation, and the bursts of the beta oscillation.

The negative-going Bereitschaftspotential (BP) is associated with the preparation and execution of dynamic movement. So far, BP for simple movements involving either the upper or the lower body has been studied. However, BP has not yet been recorded during both movements. Our study reveals that the negative-going BP was evoked around 3 to 2 seconds before the onset of the rise in response to a start cue. The BP had a negative peak before the onset of the movement of the trunk. BP for the rise to standing up was started around -3 seconds. The corresponding BP while seated could not be recorded in response to the other start cue. Then we tried to discriminate the onset for rise to stand, and for keeping seated using BP data in time domain. BP for 0.5 seconds in the time window is used for the time-shifted leave-one-out cross validation method. The method shows that using 0.5 seconds to 2 seconds before the onset of the movement could detect whether the subject would stand up or keep seated with the correction rate of about 60% to 70%. These results suggest that using the negative BP can detect the subject's will to stand-up.

Recently, many researchers have been exploiting brain computer interface systems that provide a path to assist neurocognitive disorder and motor-disabled persons. In this study, the electroencephalography and electromyography were recorded in the complex, dynamic and voluntary behavior, the rise of stand-up. The negative-going potential, Bereitschaftspotential (BP), was induced before the onset of the rise. Before the onset of the movement BP had the negative peak. After the peak, the motor- and post motor-related potential were evoked. BP negative peak values significantly correlated with the latency from the start-cue to the onset of the movement. BP could be used for the support devices for the rise of stand-up. This is the first step toward developing the robot-assisted device for the motor-disabled persons to stand up.

回内外運動の特性と関係筋電位（EMG）を調べた。被験者は様々な目標角度へ手の回転運動を行った。角度の増加に伴う回内運動（PRO）の誤差率変化は回外運動（SPI）とは異なった。また回内外筋EMGの角度変化はPRO/SPIで異なった。このEMGパターンの違いを用いて手の運動方向、角度が推定できるか現在検討中である。

本研究は心音の脳波に対する影響を調べた.実験は、被験者白身の心音、彼らの母親の心音、他人の心音、雑音をランダムに提示し、その音源を聴取している時の脳波を測定した.またそれぞれの音源聴取後、アンケートを取り、その音源が、どれくらい心地良いか、眠気を誘導するか評価して貰った.測定した脳波との比較に用いた,脳波は、各音源聴取期間後半で高速フーリエ変換を行い、δ、θ、α、β、γの周波数帯域毎に平均周波数スペクトルパワー値及び各脳波測定電極間でコヒーレンスを計算した.その結果、パワー値に関しては脳波θ波が主に眠さ得点と相関がある事が明らかになった.一方、心音聴取時、聴覚野部位を含む脳波電極間のコヒーレンス変化が生じる事、その空間パターンは心音音源により異なる事が明らかになった.以上の結果は、私達は心音を区別出来、誘導する脳内情報処理が異なる事を示唆している.

本研究の目的は,形式ニューロンによる神経回路モデルを用いてメタモデル学習を実現することである.ここで言うメタモデル学習とは,モデル集合から法則性やコツなどを表現する普遍的な高次モデルを獲得することを指す.すなわち法則性やコツなどの普遍的知識やスキルの獲得能力である.メタモデル学習を行うには,低次学習器が獲得したモデルの情報を高次学習器に転送する必要がある.その情報転送を神経回路モデルでどうすれば実装できるかが本研究の中心テーマである.本稿ではモデル情報の転送方法について検討するとともに,そのひとつとして興奮伝播場による情報転送法を提案する.またメタモデル学習法の一種である高階SOMを興奮伝播場による神経回路モデルで実装を行った.

運動障害者の生活の質向上のために,Brain Computer Interface(BCI)技術を用いたシステム開発が必要で有る.本研究では,Steady State Visual Evoked Potential(SSVEP)を用いラジコンカー操作及びビデオゲーム(VG)操作が可能であるシステムを開発した.2種の周波数で青緑正方形(15Hzと6Hz)及びチェッカーボード図形(15Hzと3.75Hz)を点滅させ同時に脳波を測定した.また各周波数脳波誘導時に各システムが操作可能にした.高速フーリエ変換を用いて脳波解析した結果,色正方形15Hz刺激の場合,後頭部位に該当周波数にピークを持つSSVEPが誘導された.6Hz刺激の場合,倍調周波数ピークが観察された.これらの結果は刺激図形に依存した.以上の結果より,SSVEP刺激によりラジコンカー及びビデオゲームの操作が可能であると考えられる.

英語リズム教材を用いた学習に関する脳波 (非線形問題)

脳波を指標とした英語リズム教材(RIM)を用いたe-learningシステムの開発にあたり,先行研究では,前頭θ波が学習過程に相関する脳波として発見されたが,本研究では他のRIMでも同様な結果が得られるか調べた.先行研究同様5日間,別教材のRIMを聞かせた.その時,頭皮上8カ所から脳波を測定した.生徒の学習解析は,先行研究で用いられた,強勢音節間のインターバル(ISI)を指標に用いると共に,新たに教師音声と生徒音声と間の相互相関解析を行い,最大ピーク値(peak),最大ピーク値までの時間シフト値(Δτ)を用いた.その結果,RIM学習によりISIが短くなり,またpeakは増大しΔτは小さくなった.以上の事はRIM学習により生徒の学習が進んだ事を示唆している.また,その時,前頭部位を含むθパワー値とpeak経日変化量との間に相関が見られた.以上の結果を元に,θパワー値を元にした,個々生徒に適切な学習教材判断システムを備えたe-Learningシステムを提案する.

脳の神経細胞異常同期が原因と言われているてんかんには様々な治療法があるが未だ10%は難治性である。この時てんかん波が脳内では見られる。また記憶学習に関わるβ波も脳内で見られる脳波の一種である。本研究では記憶学習に関するβ波とてんかん発作時に見られるてんかん波を海馬スライスにおいて再現しβ波のてんかん波発生に対する作用を調べた。今回海馬スライスにコリン作動薬の一種であるカルバコールを投与しβ波のモデルであるβ振動を誘導した。またイクタル波、インターイクタル波であるてんかん波を再現するために抑制性神経伝達物質遮断薬であるPicrotoxin(PTX)、Bicuculline(BIC)を投与した。さらにまずカルバコールによりβ振動を誘導し、その後、抑制性神経遮断薬を混合し投与した。その結果、β振動発生中には、振動無しの状態では発生するPTX,BIC濃度でイクタル波、インターイクタル波が誘導されないことが判明した。また先行研究にてインターイクタル波にカルバコールを投与するとβ振動になったという結果がある。これらの結果からβ振動はイクタル波、インターイクタル波を抑制することが示唆される。カルバコールには興奮性シナプス後電位(EPSP)を減少する作用があるので、その作用により、てんかん発生にとって鍵となる神経発火の同期性が下がったためではないかと考えられる。この結果は、また難治性てんかんに対する脳深部刺激による治療法を示唆するものである。

English rhythm instruction materials (RIM) encourage one to learn English rhythm. In RIM, you have to speak loud following the English teacher's song looking at the phrases of the song in the text. During the learning the power of theta band (4 - 8Hz) of electroencephalogram (EEG) increased at the frontal region. When you repeat the lesson several times, you become bored. The powers of alpha (8-14 Hz), beta (14-30 Hz) and gamma (30-50 Hz) bands started to decrease in a wide regions before the subjects felt bored. On the other hand, theta power did not change. In addition, the coherence between the two recording sites mainly the electrode pairs along the midline was significantly different comparing between before and after subjects felt bored. The coherence of theta band did not change. These results suggest that using the characteristics of EEG, e-learning system for English rhythm can be developed. © Springer-Verlag 2013.

The brain computer interface (BCI) records brain signals, then translates them into commands for control devices for a better quality of life. The event related potential (ERP) has been used to drive the BCIs, but they still have room for improving its performance toward a practical use. In this study we evaluated an online ERP-based BCI system that had an ensemble classifier with overlapped partitioning and a stimulator which provided image intensifications. We also employed and compared four types of visual stimuli: a neutral, a positive, a negative and a traditional gray/white letter stimulus. As a result, ERP-based BCI system with the neutral, the positive and the negative image achieved significantly higher information transfer rate (41.0 ± 2.2 bits per minute at best) than that with the conventional gray/white letter stimulus. © 2013 IEEE.

This paper demonstrates a better classification performance of an ensemble classifier using a regularized linear discriminant analysis (LDA) for P300-based brain-computer interface (BCI). The ensemble classifier with an LDA is sensitive to the lack of training data because covariance matrices are estimated imprecisely. One of the solution against the lack of training data is to employ a regularized LDA. Thus we employed the regularized LDA for the ensemble classifier of the P300-based BCI. The principal component analysis (PCA) was used for the dimension reduction. As a result, an ensemble regularized LDA classifier showed significantly better classification performance than an ensemble un-regularized LDA classifier. Therefore the proposed ensemble regularized LDA classifier is robust against the lack of training data. © 2013 IEEE.

脳波を用いた音楽嗜好性検出システム開発に向けた基礎的研究 (非線形問題)

私たちの日常の行動は主観的な嗜好性よって左右されている。最近、嗜好性に関連する脳波研究が行われ初めて来た。研究のほとんどは、どちらの顔が好きか、等視覚的な嗜好性の研究である。その研究では、前頭部θ波と、後頭部γ波が嗜好性に関与していると報告された。一方で、音楽は私たちにリラックス効果があり、ストレスを軽減してくれる。音楽療法は記憶障害患者、障害者に使用される。その効果は、好きな音楽を聴いた時、最大となる。従って、個々人の音楽嗜好性調べる事は脳波を用いる音楽療法にとって重要である。5名の健常男性(23.5±0.5歳(平均±標準偏差))に実験に参加して貰った。彼らは、30-35秒音楽を聴き、10秒間好き嫌いを判断した。その間、脳波測定を行った。音楽は、5-8ジャンルの20曲を聞いて貰った。脳波は高速フーリエ変換した後、4-8Hzのθ波、8-12Hzのα波,12-30Hzのβ波,30-50Hzのγ波の各周波数パワー値を計算した。さらに、パワー値をフィーチャーに1次元の交差判定を線形判別分析(LDA)を用いて行った。その結果、嗜好判断時、前頭部θ波パワー値は、好き判断時、嫌い判断時に比べて有意に高かった。一方、音楽聴取時及び嗜好判断時、後頭γ波のパワーは好き判断時より嫌い判断時の方が有意に高かった。交差判定の結果から、後頭γ波、前頭α波、γ波をフィーチャーにした場合、判別正解率が高かった。以上のことより、後頭γ波が嗜好判断に関わる脳波かもしれない。

ロールプレイングゲームを用いたセルフメンタルリハビリテーションシステムの提案 (マルチメディア・仮想環境基礎)

現在、多くの若者がうつ病にかかっている。うつ病の症状には、自動思考、体系的推論の誤り、抑うつスキーマ、コミュニケーション不足、睡眠リズム障害が挙げられる。これら若者のうつ病治療のために、コンピュータゲームを用いた新しい治療方法が提案されている。しかし、ゲームをする事により、本当に治療効果が出ているかどうかを確認する手段が無く、プレイヤーのゲーム治療に対するモチベーション維持が問題になっている。また治療を開始しても病院に行かない若者が多く、医師が経過を診断する事が難しくなっている。また様々な精神疾患患者では、そのコントロール脳波及びある課題実行時に異なる事が明らかになっている。本報告では、うつ病治療を行うための、3次元ロールプレイングゲームシステム(3D-RPG)を開発した。またそのゲーム中に課題を行い、その時の脳波をインターネットを介して病院に送り、データペースに保存可能なシステムを開発した。本セルフメンタルリハビリテーションシステムにより、うつ病の若者患者を有効に治療する事が出来ると、考えている。

脳内で観察される周波数の異なる神経振動

脳内には様々な周波数を持ったリズム現象が観察されている．私たちはラット脳から作成した海馬スライスに，アセチルコリン作動薬であるカルバコールを投与すると，周波数15-20Hzのβ波様振動が出現する事を明らかにした．それらはまた周期30-40秒ほどでバースト的に誘導される．一方ラットを12時間12時間の明暗（LD）サイクルの環境下におくと，そのサイクルに引き込まれて行動する．L，D期それぞれのラットから切り出した海馬スライスにカルバコールを投与すると誘導したβ振動は異なった．この結果は，脳内神経の異なる周波数リズム間に相互作用がある事を示唆している．
