A new design and detection method is proposed of image sensor based LED light marker with pulse modulation using under sampling. We use general image camera to detect different LED light makers with pulse modulation frequency more than 60 Hz. This is according to the under sampling analysis that converts signal with high frequency more than 60 Hz to lower frequency signals using image camera with low frame rate frequency less than 60 Hz. Experimental results are shown with different pulse modulation frequency.

The purpose of this study is to suggest a new method that can easily detect obstacles surrounding by use of a circle line laser and fisheye camera. This system can be attached to a mobile robot, and obstacle detection can be taken in real time while moving. Conventional obstacle detection methods are widely used such as using ultrasonic sensors to detect the presence or absence of obstacles by transmitting ultrasonic waves from a transmitter and receiving the ultrasonic waves reflected by an object at the receiver. Also obstacle detection method using LiDAR uses remote sensing technology to detect obstacles and measure distances. Our proposed method is a different obstacle detection method that can detect obstacles surrounding with large range easily. We show the system construction by use of a circle line laser and fisheye camera and obstacle detection experimental results.

WE propose a method to distinguish frequency modulated LED light marker with general image sensor using under sampling. The LED light marker is desighned to be used as a light maker as wel as a general LED light. So the light modulation frequency should be larger than 60 Hz to avoid flicker. A general image sensor usually has frame rate lower than 60 Hz. We analysis the theory using under sampling to detect higher frequency modulated LED light with image sensor and show some experimental results.

Care robots are becoming more and more important. There are various doors and doorways in homes, but it is difficult for a robot to move through them. Therefore, as a preliminary step in developing an autonomous mobile robot that can open and close any door, this paper aims to identify doorknobs and handles in images using machine learning. Houses have various types of doors and doorknobs. In this study, they are classified into 6 patterns. We use a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to classify them from images. We trained six typical doorknob patterns, 800 images were prepared for each pattern. As the result, the recognition accuracy improved to 79.9% compared to a conventional method. In future, in order for a robot to open and close any door, it will be necessary to detect 3D position of door.

In recent years, Japan's declining birthrate and aging population have made a decrease in the working population a problem. Further decline in the working population is expected in the future due to the declining birthrate and aging population. As a solution to such labor shortages, there is a growing interest in the use of autonomous mobile robots. In order to actually utilize autonomous mobile robots, awareness of the surroundings is an important issue in running the robot. Stereo cameras are often used to acquire information about the surroundings. However, it is difficult for a stereo camera to obtain information on the surroundings in a single shot due to the angle of view. Therefore, we focused on an obstacle detection method using a fisheye camera, which has the advantage of acquiring information on all 360 locations around the obstacle at a time. In this study, we propose a new obstacle position detection method using three fisheye cameras.

In recent years, automated guided vehicles (AGVs) have been widely used in factories and hospitals. Robots are expected to become popular in general households for reasons such as nursing care, and it is necessary for it to consist of simple equipment with small purchase cost. In this study, we developed a new method of self-position estimation using frequency-modulated LEDs and photodiodes. Compared with conventional methods, the new method can cope with fluctuations in LED illumination, and the calculation method has been further modified. In the experiment, the actual position and the calculated position were compared, and it was found that the error was as small as 1.1 cm, indicating that the self-position estimation was feasible.

In recent years, demand for autonomous mobile robots has been increasing worldwide. Obstacle detection is essential for the movement of robots. Therefore, we conducted a study aiming to measure 360° of the surroundings at a time using cameras. We succeeded in measuring the distance to an obstacle from the captured image using a method in which omnidirectional cameras were placed facing each other.

It is easy to measure the diameter of a stainless steel rod by irradiating a laser beam onto it. However, when a laser beam is irradiated onto a stainless steel rod whose surface is coated with oil, it becomes difficult to measure the diameter of the stainless steel circular rod due to the thickness of the oil. To reduce this error, a previous study measured using only the reflected light distribution. To solve the problems found in the previous study and to improve the accuracy, this study proposes a new method with the addition of transmitted light distribution.

In recent years, the declining working population due to the declining birthrate and aging population has become a problem in Japan. Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) that can be used in factories and warehouses are attracting attention as a solution to this problem. A line-trace type automatic guided vehicle (AGV) is used as one of the methods of automatic guided vehicle (AGV). However, this method has the disadvantage that it takes time to introduce and it is not easy to change the route. In addition, the method using a stereo camera is mainly used for automatic transport robots using image processing such as factories. However, the stereo camera has a problem that the shooting range is narrow. Against this background, we have developed a new approach to automated transport by using a fisheye camera to recognize AR markers and lanes. The use of a fisheye camera expands the recognition range, the use of lanes already used in factories reduces the time and effort required for introduction, and the recognition of AR markers makes it easy to change routes. In this research, we verified the measurement accuracy of AR markers and lanes, made it real-time, implemented it on a robot, and verified the control accuracy of the robot.

We experience various things in our daily life, and our brain stores the information obtained through these experiences, but it is difficult to keep it for a long period of time. Therefore, we propose a recall assistance system, which uses lifelogs. Related studies in memory recall have examined the usefulness of using only images captured by cameras or combining images with other elements for recall. However, there is an issue that past information cannot be easily recalled. The purpose of this research is to develop a system that can extract and present information about memories and past events based on multiple pieces of information to the user in order to realize a recall assistance system that utilizes lifelogs. We propose a system that facilitates the recall of past memories by pointing a camera at the person with whom the user is conversing. We conducted experiments in which we used face recognition, voice recognition, and language processing to identify the three types of information needed to assist recall: face, voice, and conversational content, and used this information to extract past events from a set of data. The results showed that the combination of the three types of information can extract highly relevant past events. In addition, the addition of various information other than the information used in this study is expected to increase the versatility and reproducibility of the method.

In this research, we propose a system that allows participants to freely change their viewpoints and move using a remote camera control system that can share screens. We use the gesture picture of a participant through any web meeting system such as the zoom system to control the shared camera by any provider using shared screen. As an example, we construct the system using the general zoom system and two programs that are gesture recognition by capturing the participant window picture and camera control according the command of gesture to share the camera movies using zoom sharing screen. There is nothing special to purchase on the participant side, and no need to create an account for the cloud server, just install the above two programs on the PC of camera provider. The weak points of the conventional remote operation can be overcome by using our proposed system.
