© 2019, International Journal of Electrical and Electronic Engineering & Telecommunications. The suppression of photovoltaic power generation output fluctuation has been investigated by using thermal radiative cooling/heating system. The thermal radiative cooling/heating system is novel equipment that can provide an energy-saving, comfortable and healthy living environments by utilizing heat pump technology and an active radiative heat transfer. The characteristic of this system is to maintain the thermal environment with respect to power fluctuations. Photovoltaic power generation has a characteristic that the amount of power generation varies according to the weather. When a large amount of photo-voltaic power generation is installed, the short-term supply and demand imbalance occurs, which causes the frequency deviation. Then, a method to suppress such power fluctuation by thermal radiative cooling/heating system is proposed. As a result of the numerical experiment, the proposed method shows efficient suppression performance.

© 2016 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd. The energy-saving operation in the thermal radiative cooling/heating system has been verified. The coefficient of performance (COP) has been experimentally evaluated by changing the water temperature and the flow rate to control the heat amount. The energy-saving operation has been achieved by increasing the flow rate for the same heat amount. The thermal comfort has also been evaluated by calculating the predicted mean vote (PMV). In the case of the energy-saving operation, it is expected that the heat amount by radiation is reduced and impair the thermal comfort. However, it is found that its reduction has a small effect on the thermal comfort.

© IFAC. This paper presents the applications of Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) for assessing the dynamics and stability of wide area interconnected power system. Wide area measurement system for the power system dynamical assessment which has been developed by our group is installed at the power outlets in some university campuses in Japan. Thus, it is called Campus WAMS, and the system was also applied to Singapore-Malaysia power system. Some results based on the long term continuous monitoring are described in this paper.
