<p>In this paper, we propose hardware acceleration to improve a performance of scripting programming languages for embedded developments. Scripting programming languages enable more efficient software developments and scripting programming languages are used in several system developments such as IoT developments. However, scripting programming languages are an interpreted language and the program is executed by a virtual machine, so it takes a long time to execute. Therefore, we implemented hardware acceleration for scripting programming language “mruby/c” targeting small embedded devices. The hardware acceleration supports bottleneck processing of a virtual machine of mruby/c, execution speeds are improved. This paper describes the configuration of the hardware acceleration for mruby/c and the performance evaluation.</p>

This paper explores the use of data flow-based design in IoT application development and its integration with the Node-RED programming tool. Node-RED provides a visual interface for creating programs based on the flow of data between nodes. However, Node-RED is not suitable for resource-constrained devices like micro-controllers. To address this, we propose a method of generating mruby code from Node-RED’s data flow programs. The generated mruby code can be compiled into device-independent byte-code and executed on the mruby VM. To facilitate the implementation, we introduce the RBoard, a prototyping micro-controller board equipped with the mruby VM firmware. This approach combines the intuitive data flow design of Node-RED with the power of mruby for embedded systems. Through this integration, developers can rapidly prototype IoT applications and leverage the flexibility of scripting languages. Our findings demonstrate the feasibility and benefits of using data flow-based design and mruby code generation in IoT application development. This research contributes to the advancement of efficient and scalable IoT programming methodologies and enables the creation of innovative IoT solutions on micro-controller platforms.

Athletes who push their bodies to the limit need to be in tip-top shape to compete. Before engaging in strenuous activity or competition, they should focus on building a healthy body. The ubiquitous availability of smartphones, recent advancements in computational, and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, and the rising trends in multimedia and edge computation have all contributed to the emergence of new models and paradigms for wearable devices. Researchers have provided a diverse array of analytical methodologies centering on athlete health; however, neural networks have been applied in just a fraction of the completed investigations. Using recurrent neural networks and wearable technology, we offer a new method for forecasting the health of football players. One of the earliest uses of wearable sensors for athletes’ training and health, the suggested system keeps tabs on the players’ well-being in real time. After feeding the time-step data into a recurrent neural network (RNN) and extracting deep features from it, a set of health prediction results is returned. This study involves a number of experiments, the results of which are dependent on the players’ health data. The proposed method is shown to be practical and reliable through simulation results. The study's algorithms can form the basis of data-driven monitoring and instruction. The chapter finishes with a discussion of potential research approaches and future directions for the smart wearables sector.

The exponential increase of health-related digital data has given machine learning algorithms a newfound ability to generate more meaningful insights. Information such as diagnosis, treatments, and prescriptions are all part of digital health data. In order to better care for their patients, healthcare providers provide crucial diagnostic services. Mistakes in diagnosis, however, lead to the patient receiving harmful treatment too soon or too late. In order to reduce the likelihood of clinical cognitive errors, computer-aided diagnosis techniques have been developed. The proposed approach utilizes a massive health-related data set, which is comprised of many unstructured patient questions written in various Arabic dialects, as well as symptoms reported by general practitioners (GPs). System components include a combination of machine learning models that have been trained using either patient symptoms or patient medical inquiries. Machine learning (ML) strategies, and variations of the multilayer perceptron (MLP) classifier have all been utilized in trials as feature representation techniques and ML classifiers. We also discuss the technical and analytical hurdles, as well as the most important new applications, that this research opens up. Possibilities in areas such as digital clinical trials, telehealth, pandemic surveillance, digital twins, and virtual health aides are discussed. We also provide an overview of the data, modeling, and privacy obstacles that must be surmounted before the healthcare industry can fully benefit from multimodal AI. With a classification accuracy of 94.9%, the combined results of the two modalities demonstrate promising prediction potential. The results show promise for using the algorithm to predict possible diagnoses of patient illnesses that depend on the given symptoms and queries, which can help doctors make more informed judgments.

<p>We have developed a visual programming tool called SmrAI for function testing, and investigated whether wrapping existing source code with Scratch Blocks is an effective means of mitigating the shortage of programming personnel in the manufacturing. SmrAI is based on Smalruby, which can convert Scratch Blocks into Ruby code. In addition, SmrAI introduces two new sets of Blocks that wrap existing Ruby libraries for function testing. Since existing tools and libraries were utilized, the cost of developing SmrAI was low, and there were no changes in the function testing procedure. We conducted a verification test using staff members who were familiar with the function testing process but had little or no programming experience, and confirmed that they were able to program using SmrAI and that they had confidence in its business applications. These results are expected to contribute to the diversification and increase of programming personnel responsible for function test programming.</p>

It is important to look for alternative forms of physical movement of people and equipment in order to assure diagnosis and maintenance tasks, especially in an environment where workers are subject to danger. An evident and classical solution is the use of the tele-operation and tele-robotics. If the tele-operation helps to solve a lot of real and technical problems, it still remains insufficient to assure an appropriate remote diagnosis and maintenance. The use of virtual reality techniques with the tele-operation can be the solution for an effective remote maintenance and diagnosis. In this paper we show the inefficiency occurred with the use of only tele-operation in the remote maintenance, we introduce our original new system where we use 2D-3D matching and virtual reality techniques with tele-operation to remotely collect machinery vibration data. We explain its structure, implementation and its advantages. We finished by experimenting the system, measuring the different operating times and precision and discuss the results.
