In this study, a FSI design of an insect-like micro flapping wing is proposed. Similar to actual insects, the proposed design actively uses the FSI to create the passive wing motions. Each design solution has a 2.5-D structure for the MEMS technology. The 3-D unsteady monolithic FSI equation system is solved to find the satisfactory design solutions using a projection method in a parallel computation environment. An area of satisfactory design solutions in a design parameter space or Design Window (DW) is presented. Each design solution in the present DW can generate the thrust sufficient to support the weight of the model insect. Therefore, the insect-like MEMS-based MAVs are possible.

従来の注射に代えて、マイクロニードルアレイにより皮膚から薬剤を体内に入れ、誰でも、どこでも、いつでも、痛みなく投薬ができることを目指している。皮膚に開けた穴が塞がりにくくしたマイクロニードル形状とその製作方法を提案する。独自の窪み形状により皮膚の穴が塞がることを防ぐと同時に、薬剤の量を増やしている。精密金型と、射出成形による作製方法を考案した。また、動物実験によりその効果も評価した。

1種類のガス検出用のセンサは既に一部で実用化されている一方、広範な複数種のガスを同時に検知可能で、携帯可能なガスセンサは開発途上である。本研究では、弾性表面波(Surface Acoustic Wave; SAW)デバイスをセンサ素子のベース構造に用いたセンサチップの開発を最終目的としている。そのデバイスで、電極構造は、SAWの励振・検出を行う非常に重要な要素である。今回は、金/クロム薄膜を電極素材として選択し、SAWデバイスの作製を行った。

We have developed a traveling small capsule, which has a smooth outer surface and is driven by vibration. Measuring only 11 mm in diameter and 25 mm in length, it is sufficiently small to be placed in the human gullet or intestines. Although the capsule does not have wheels nor legs, it can travel utilizing vibration. For these reasons, there is nothing protruding to harm the soft tissue of intestine. The capsule contains a small magnet, a coil, batteries and a circuit, and an electric pulse drives the coil to move the capsule. We did the experimental investigation that our capsule can travel in a plastic pipe and it can also travel on pig intestine surface. We also have developed liquid medicine dispenser that can be put inside the capsule. Our capsule may be useful for medical treatments such as inspection and drug delivery.

シリコン基材の3次元微細加工の手法としてエッチングが挙げられる。うち、特定の方向にのみ基材を除去する加工を異方性エッチングという。本研究では，真空環境下および液中での異方性エッチングを組み合わせてシリコン基板表面に対する複合加工を行った。まず真空下でのドライエッチングで作製した柱状構造を、更に液中でのウェットエッチングで加工することにより、複雑な3次元形状の微小構造アレイを作製した結果を報告する。

本研究では，医療用微小針等の孔アレイに組み合わせて送液に使用することを想定した,マイクロ流路およびマイクロヒーターの作製を目的とした．流路デバイスは,微細切削加工により流路を加工したガラス基板を樹脂基板で封止することで作製した.また,MEMS技術を利用することで,温度調整用のニッケル薄膜抵抗型マイクロヒーターを作製した.両デバイスを組み合わせたデバイスにおいて,液の加熱・流通等の機能評価を行った.

The direct synthesis of hydrogen peroxide from hydrogen and oxygen has been explored for decades, although it has been challenged by the inherent risk of handling explosive gas mixture and mass transfer resistance for its nature of gas–liquid–solid reaction. Using newly designed and fabricated glass microreactors, we successfully handle the reaction with promising productivity. 10 wt.% aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution is obtained at room temperature (ca. 293 K), 1 MPa. It owes to proper gas- and liquid handling as well as characteristics of microreactor technology (rapid heat/mass transfer), and proper preparation of the catalysts.

Silicon resonant sensors generally show frequency drift due to temperature fluctuation. A p-n junction diode was integrated to a resonant mass sensor using a silicon cantilever in one chip for frequency drift compensation due to temperature fluctuation. The diode could be fabricated by almost the same fabrication process simultaneously with piezoresistive stress gauges and showed good p-n junction characteristics for a temperature sensor. The sensor chip consisted of multiple cantilevers and the diode was assembled to a sensor package with a PZT vibrator and oscillated using a feedback electric circuit. Frequency drift trends under induced temperature changes could be almost compensated using the temperature read by the on-chip diode and a temperature coefficient. The temperature coefficients were -34 and -78 ppm/°C for gold-coated and polybutadiene-coated cantilevers, respectively, and found to depend strongly on the surface adsorption films on the sensor. Frequency drift compensation under a chemical sensing situation was also demonstrated, which was reduced from the original drift up to 30 Hz to almost 2 Hz. Temperature compensation using an on-chip temperature sensor is considered to be important for chemical sensing using silicon cantilevers where gas flows can easily change the temperature of the sensor.
