We did experiment in order to understand that if a person who sees the CG facial expression is entertain what feelings. Subjects saw the CG facial expression of the six basic emotions (Happy, Angry, Sad, Hate, Fear, Surprise) and evaluated their feelings by using the SAM (Self-assessment manikin). As a result, there was a difference in the influence of emotions that give the CG facial expressions that shows Fear, we found that the big difference is not seen in the other facial expression.

In this paper, we propose a novel digital image color conversion method for color blindness using a multilayer neural network. The people with color blindness have difficulty discriminating combinations of specific colors. Those people require color conversion for the presented image such that the image can be a perceptible color representation. In the proposed method, we design a multilayer neural network composed of three building blocks: layers for image color conversion, layers for perceptual simulation model of color blindness, and layers for color discrimination. In proposed framework, a neural network is learning about a relationship of an image data and a discrimination performance of colors in an image, and a color conversion rule is trained as a part of a neural network. To validate the effectiveness of proposed method, it is applied to several images that have various color combinations.

これまで,手話認識システムの研究は数多く行われている.しかし,日常的な使用を目的とした手話認識システムの研究は少ない.本稿では日常的な使用を目的とした,ウェアラブルかつカメラベースの手話認識手法を提案し,その認識精度を検証する.認識処理においては,SIFTマッチングを用いて毎フレームの手形状を判別し,その結果をHMMによって学習・認識する.また,本システムの有効性を検証するために手話単語22単語の認識実験を行った.結果として77.3%の認識率を示した.

本論文では画像中の物体数を自動的に推定する手法を提案する.現在,様々な分野において自律型ロボットが研究されている.ロボットが自律して行動するために,周囲の環境から物体数を認識することは重要である.一般的に対象物体全てに共通の特徴を見つけ,その特徴のある部分を数えることによって物体の個数とすることが多い.本研究ではテンプレート画像に似た特徴量を画像からSIFTにより求める.そしてSOMを用いることによって物体数を自動的に数える.有効性を示すために,日常的な物体を含む画像へ適用する.

本研究では自己組織化特徴マップ(SOM)を用いたクラスター分析法についての提案を行う.クラスター分析において, SOMに基づいた手法は,入力空間でのクラスタ形成を視覚的に確認できる点で優れている.しかしながら,学習後のSOMから得られるデータ密度ヒストグラムは不要な山や谷を含むので目視によるクラスター分析が困難になる場合がある.本研究では,学習後の重みベクトルと近傍ベクトルの特徴を考慮することによってデータ密度ヒストグラムの平滑化を行い,自動的にクラスター分析を行う方法を提案する.複数の人工データによって提案手法の有用性を確認した.

© 2014 IEEE. This paper proposes an automatic clustering method using self-organizing feature maps (SOM). There are a lot of studies on the automatic clustering. Among them, SOM-based clustering methods are attracted in terms of visual understandabilities. In general SOM, each weight vector after learning covers a subspace in input space. In the SOM-based clustering, a histogram, i.e. a density distribution of data, is constructed from the frequency of data existing in each subspace. In most situations, the histogram obtained from the learnt SOM involves more excessive peaks and valleys than we envisioned by the true number of clusters. Therefore, it is difficult to assign the data to clusters from the visual inspections of histogram. In this study, to eliminate the unnecessary extremums from histogram and make cluster analyses easier, a method to smooth the histogram is proposed. In the proposed method, the histogram is edited by considering learnt weight vectors and neighborhood characteristics. As a result, the edited histogram is enough smoothed to understand the relationships between the agglomeration of data and clusters. In addition, an automatic clustering scheme is proposed on the basis of the edited histogram. The effectiveness and the validity of the proposed method for the automatic clustering are examined for several artificially generated data.

This paper proposes a fuzzy-rule-embedded reduction image construction method for image enlargement. A fuzzy rule is generated by considering distribution of pixel value around a target pixel. The generated rule is embedded into the target pixel in a reduction image. The embedded fuzzy rule is used in a fuzzy inference to generate a highly magnified image from the reduction image. Experimental results, which scale factors are three and four, show that the proposed method realizes high-quality image enlargement in terms of both objective and subjective evaluations in comparison with conventional methods. We propose a cluster analysis method using self-organizing feature maps (SOM). SOM-based cluster analysis methods are attracted among a lot of studies on the automatic cluster analysis methods. In most situations, a histogram, i.e. a density distribution of data, obtained from the learnt SOM involves more excessive peaks and valleys than we envisioned by the true number of clusters. In this paper, a method to smooth the histogram is proposed to make cluster analysis easier and to eliminate the unwanted extreme values. The effectiveness and the validity of the proposed method for the automatic clustering are examined for several artificially generated data.

A new computer aided diagnosis (CAD) system for a plain chest radiograph is proposed in this study. CAD systems enhancing lung nodules have been actively studied to distinguish the lung nodules. Currently, temporal subtraction (TS) based systems are used extensively for CAD systems to enhance the lung nodules. The TS method can suppress false positives comparatively because it uses the past chest radiograph of the same person. However, the TS method cannot be applied to initial visitors because they have no past chest radiographs. Although a method enhancing the lung nodules with only one chest radiograph selected among other people was proposed, they have several problems. The purpose of this study is to develop a new CAD system which does not need the past chest radiograph. In our method, a pseudo-normal image is synthesized from a database containing chest radiographs of other patients that have already been diagnosed as normal by some medical specialists. Next, the pseudo-normal image is fed into the CAD system instead of a unique past chest radiograph. At last, subtracting the synthesized normal image from target chest radiograph emphasizes lung nodules. The effectiveness and the validity of the proposed method are verified by some experiments.
