本研究では,車載カメラによって撮影された街並みの連続画像から建物壁面のテクスチャを抽出する方法を提案する.カメラが建物に正対し,等速直線運動していると仮定すると,奥行きの同じ建物の視差は,ほぼ等しくなる.また,それ以外の部分の視差は,建物壁面の視差と異なるため,この違いを利用して,建物壁面を抽出する.これには,グラフカットによる,エネルギー最小化を用いる.スライダーと建物のミニチュアを使用した実験を行い,提案手法の有効性を示した.

3次元地図生成の手法の1つとして車載カメラにより建物壁面のテクスチャを取得し,これを元に3次元空間上での建物壁面を再現する研究がなされている.ここで,撮影時にカメラの視野に納まりきらない建物に対応するため,パノラマ画像の生成が必要になる.本研究では車載カメラにより撮影された街並みの画像から,パノラマ画像を自動的に生成するシステムの開発を目的とする.パターンマッチングと多数決原理により,街並みの連続画像から,画像間の対応付けを決定した.このとき,画像間の輝度値の差に注目し,値の小さい部分をつなぎ目とすることで,見た目に自然な画像を生成した.つなぎ目の決定には,グラフカットによる,エネルギー最小化を利用した.

文字認識に関する研究はこれまで数多く行われているが,それらは標準的な字体を対象としているものがほとんどである.しかし,看板等の自然環境下において,人の目を引くために様々な装飾が施された装飾文字が使われることが少なくない.これらの文字を認識することは,新たな入力インターフェースや自然画像のインデクシングといった応用において重要であるが,文字の歪みや照明環境の変化,字体の多様性のために,従来の文字認識システムでは良好な結果を得ることはできていない.本研究では,文字のトポロジーに関する構造情報を自己組織化マップによって抽出し,抽出した文字構造の照合により認識を行う新しい文字認識システムを提案する.提案手法を種々の装飾文字の認識問題に適用し,その有効性を示す.

ビジュアルトラッキングでは通常，カメラレンジからのフレームアウトが生じた場合，追跡を中断する．本研究では，背景から推定した地理情報を用いることで，一時的なフレームアウトであればフレーム外のターゲット位置を予測し追跡を継続する方法を提案する．シーンは，自律飛行無人ヘリによる自動車の追跡を想定する．動画像からターゲットの速度と姿勢及び背景の移動量をパーティクルフィルタにより逐次推定し，追跡を行う．ターゲットは色で尤度を求め，背景移動量は特徴点のオプティカルフローで尤度を求める．地理情報として道路領域と建物領域を利用し，背景移動量とエッジ情報と色情報より道路・建物領域を検出する．検出された道路領域から，未知部分の道路を 3 次スプラインで外挿する．ターゲットの観測モデルに自動車は道路上を走行している確率が高いという尤度を加えることで，フレームから消失したターゲットを予測する．シミュレーション実験で提案法の有用性を示す．We propose a method of robust visual tracking in dynamic image including out-of-field-of-view. Visual tracking is usually unable to track target coming out range of a camera. But proposed method is able to continue tracking target in such case by taking into account background information. A scene is Unmanned Aerial Vehicle is tracking a car on a road. State of the car is velocity and posture. And state of background is quantity of translation movement and Angle of rotation. The both state sequentially is estimated from an image sequence by particle filter. A likelihood of the car calculated based on a color information. And, a likelihood of background calculated based on an optical flow. The background information is road and building. There information is extracted based on a color and edge. Unknown road are extrapolated from known road with cubic splines. Target disappearing from the frame is predicted by observation model which imposes prior knowledge that the car normally moves on the road. Effectiveness of proposed method has been shown through tracking experiments with simulation image sequences.

Recognizing decorated characters using conventional Optical Character Recognition (OCR) requires that the structure of the decorated characters be extracted. The method that Omachi et al. proposed to do this could not extract characters including both thin and thick lines. To improve the performance of Omachi's approach, we proposed using graph spectral decomposition, demonstrating our previous proposal's applicability to wider range of decorated characters. Here we propose a new criterion for selecting structure extraction components in the graph spectral decomposition framework, demonstrating the feasibility of the criterion through experimental results.

Image completion yields whole images by producing plausible parts missing due to the removal of foreground or background elements. Conventionally, missing parts are produced by optimizing the objective function, defined based on pattern similarity between the missing region and the remaining image (data region). The resulting image may be compromised, however, by data region pattern variations. Augmenting data region pattern variations positively produced good results, but tends to cause processing search time to mushroom proportionately. To avoid this, we propose pattern extension based on rotating data region pattern variations and minimizing calculation time using the local orientation of rotated patterns. The effectiveness of this approach was demonstrated by comparing conventional and proposed methods.

In this paper, a fuzzy-clustering-based discriminant method of multiple quadric surfaces in a scene is proposed. This method is intended for scenes involving multiple objects, where each object is approximated by a primitive model. The proposed method is composed of three steps. In the first step, 3D data is reconstructed using a stereo matching technique from a stereo image whose scene involves multiple objects. Next, the 3D data is divided into a single object by employing Fuzzy c-Means accompanied by Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and a criterion with respect to the number of clusters. Finally, the shape of each object is extracted by Fuzzy c-Varietieswith noise clustering. The proposed method was evaluated with respect to some pilot scenes whose ground truth data is known, and it was shown to specify each location and each shape for multiple objects very well.

フォトレタッチソフト等で広く用いられる素朴な補間(共一次線形補間,3次畳み込み補間など)ベースの方法によりデジタル画像の拡大を行った場合,画像の高周波成分が欠落したぼけのある拡大画像が生成される.一般的に,画像の鮮明化・高解像度化は,この欠落高周波成分を何らかの方法で復元することにより行う.本論文では,エッジ特徴に基づく固有空間を用いたBPLPを用いて欠落高周波成分を推定しボケの生じた画像に補填することでボケの少ない鮮明な拡大画像を得る手法を提案する.

ある形状から別の形状へ徐々に変化していく様子を動画で表現するために,その中間を補うための画像を生成する技術にモーフィングがある.この技術の応用例として,医療システムにおける簡易的な疾病変化画像の生成,手話の例文作成システムにおける単語間の画像生成などが考えられている.これらのシステムでは,全ての画像間の内挿系列を事前に用意する必要があり生成に手間がかかる.一方,自己組織化マップ(SOM)は,学習時に与えられるデータ集合に対して近接関係を保持したトポロジカルマッピングを行うことにより,データ空間上の近接関係からデータ間の補間を行うことが可能である.本研究では,このSOMによるデータ補間を画像データの内挿に適用する方法を提案し,その有効性を検証する.

三次元地図の作製では,生成された三次元データに対してテクスチャマッピングが行われる.その作製には,外業によって取得した画像を,マニュアルでの編集作業により貼り付けていく方法が一般的に用いられる.需要が多い都市部などでは詳細な地図が作製されているが,より広域を網羅するには膨大なコストがかかるので,自動化の要望は極めて高い.本研究では,三次元地図の作製過程で行う3Dポリゴンへのテクスチャマッピングを,車載カメラからの画像情報を利用して自動で行うことを目的とする.車載カメラは,広範囲に渡って移動しながら容易に建物壁面の撮影が行える利点が挙げられる.しかし,走行状態の撮影環境は振動や車線に影響をうけるため,地図とカメラの対応付けが難しくなり,結果として画像中の建物の領域特定が困難となる.提案手法では,連続して取得された画像からカメラの軌跡を計算し,地図上のポリゴンに対応する画像中の建物の領域特定を行う.本稿では,ミニチュアモデルを用いて実験を行った結果について検討し,その考察を述べる.

Back projection for lost pixels(BPLP)法は,画像の特徴を表した固有空間を作成し,それを用いて入力画像中の欠損画素を復元する方法である.本報告では,事前定義コードブックを用いた画像拡大法にBPLPを応用した新しい方法を提案する.提案手法では,低周波成分と高周波成分の対の集合からなる事前定義コードブックを用いて固有空間を作成し,これを用いてBPLPを行うことで,標本化時に失われた画像の高周波成分の推定を高速に行う,鮮鋭な画像拡大が実現される.実験により,提案手法の有効性を示す.
