© 2014 ACPE. Wind power is among the rapidly spreading renewable energy sources in the past years. It has been a trend that renewable energy sources including wind generators be either connected in the distribution level near the loads, or be operated in islanded operation. However, since wind generators are highly dependent on wind speed which changes throughout the day, wind output of wind power plants are highly expected to fluctuate. This paper proposes a pitch angle control method using Fuzzy logic and PI controllers for a wind power plant. The pitch angle control is designed to work with conventional PI controller to vary its parameters to smoothen the wind turbine output in cases of varying wind speeds. The effectiveness of the proposed control method is demonstrated through simulation in Matlab/Simulink environment.

This paper presents a simple analysis tool for torsional vibration of the rotor shaft of turbine generator which is interconnected with a power system with self-commutated converters. The evaluation is based on the analysis of measurement data in the field and the instantaneous value based power system simulation. A number of power converters with large capacity are installed in industrial power systems. Especially, interharmonics originated from self-commutated converters cause the torsional vibration at the rotor shaft of rotating machines. The interaction between rotating machine and converters is known as sub-synchronous torsional interaction. The resonance between interharmonics from converters and the natural frequency of the rotor shaft cause the large torsional vibration, which leads to the shaft damage. In this paper, the influence of interharmonics to turbine generators is investigated. If there were air gap torque fluctuations with frequency near the natural frequency caused by interharmonics, which have frequency less than 100 Hz of sideband wave caused by asynchronous pulse width modulation, the rotor shaft might be damaged by the torsional vibration. In this paper, the emerging condition of the torsional vibration and the impact to the generator are investigated.

© School of Engineering, Taylor’s University. In general, Light Emitting Diode (LED) is low power consumption, and Photovoltaic (PV) generation of Renewable Energy is effective as energy creation. However, LED applications have a problem of LED Circuit Radiation Noise and PV generation applications have a problem of the Output Power fluctuation in the weather. This paper will be proposed as an especial approach of the energy reduction to contribute to the realization of the low carbon society in the world. In this research, without using Common Mode Choke (CMC) Noise Cut filter, the Radiation Noise reduction result in World Standard Guideline by the selection of a simple circuit of the most effective LED lighting of various power reduction methods have been confirmed by the examinations. Additionally, in order to investigate the lighting specification, the simple Lighting evaluation equipment has been developed. As an energy fluctuation reduction research, the new control system of the PV fluctuation electric power using EV battery charge-discharge electric power that is able to be easily connected with a Power Conditioning System (PCS) input is proposed. A simulation result using the actual PV generator output data is provided to confirm the effectiveness of Simple Moving Average (SMA) method. Moreover, the outline of a new large area monitoring control GIS system for the implementation of the PV generator power prognostication without the weather estimation is introduced.
