Our aim is to construct an ISS Lyapunov function for the interconnection. We provide a condition of a small gain type under which this construction is possible and describe a method of an explicit construction of such an ISS Lyapunov function.

© IFAC.This paper considers global asymptotic stability and robustness of cascaded nonlinear stochastic systems, and presents Lyapunov-based criteria. Constituent systems are characterized in terms of dissipation inequalities almost in the form of input-to-state stability (ISS) which is popular for both stochastic and deterministic systems. As an important unique feature of stochastic systems, this paper first demonstrates that assuming ISS systems having unbounded decay rate is restrictive, which contrasts sharply with the deterministic case. This motivates the second part of the main results focusing on ISS systems with bounded decay rate as well as systems which are not ISS. With these developments, this paper proposes a framework based on integral input-to-state stability (iISS) and demonstrates its usefulness.

© IFAC.To address various types of delays including the neutral-type arising in dynamical networks, this paper deals with coupled delay differential and continuous-time difference equations and develops stability and robustness criteria. Subsystems described by differential equations are not required to be input-to-state stable. No assumptions on network topology are made. To tackle networks in such a general formulation, this paper explicitly constructs Lyapunov-type functionals establishing stability and robustness of the overall networks. The construction requires only simple characterizations of subsystems in terms of inequalities with Lyapunov functions and instantaneous norms.

In this paper, a problem of designing decentralized robust controllers for dynamical networks is considered. For general topology of nonlinear networks, it is shown that integral input-to-state stability with respect to additive disturbances acting on subsystems can be achieved by local state feedback. The robustification is proven possible in the decentralized way if the network satisfies a small-gain condition.

This article is concerned with global asymptotic stability (GAS) of dynamical networks. The case when subsystems are integral input-to-state stable (iISS) has been recognized as notoriously difficult to deal with in the literature. In fact, the lack of energy dissipation for large input denies direct application of the small-gain argument for input-to-state stable (ISS) subsystems. Here for networks consisting of iISS subsystems it is demonstrated that a two-phase approach allows us to make use of the ISS small-gain argument by separating a trajectory into a transient and a subsequent ISS-like phase. In contrast to the previous iISS results, the two-phase approach immediately leads to a sufficiency criterion for GAS of general nonlinear networks, which is given in a matrix-like form (order condition). © 2013 AACC American Automatic Control Council.
